The Society for Street Children in Nepal, is a non-profit fund-raising society working for the provision of permanent accommodation for street children or those who risk becoming street children in Nepal. Highest priority is given to girls since they in particular run the risk of human trafficking.
The Society will also provide education for children and young people who would otherwise have no access to education. In addition, the Society will provide food for children still living on the streets.
In a move to bring about a reduction in childbirth deaths, the Society has begun to educate midwives. This education is provided for young girls coming from poor families with no access to higher education.
Our work in Nepal is conducted on a small scale with a long-term perspective, aiming for sustainability rather than quantity. All contributions go directly to the work carried out in Nepal. All work carried out by the Society in Sweden is done by volunteers. Administration costs such as the 90-account monitored by the Swedish Fundraising Control, fees for bank accounts and an authorised public accountant are kept to a minimum.
The Society has its Swedish base in Gävle, but fund-raising activities are initiated by members in various parts of the country. Activities in Nepal are carried out by two registered Nepalese Non- Governmental Organisations (NGOs): Child Help and Care Center and the Manjushree Child Care Center.
